Palos

Palos de la Frontera is the town where Christopher Columbus lived, while he was preparing to go off and discover America in 1492.

Columbus was accompanied by the Pinzón brothers, who were born and bred in Palos.

Replicas of the three ships, the Pinta, Niña and Santa Maria were built to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the voyage. They sailed the same route as Columbus and on their return, they formed the centrepiece of a new museum.
