Investing in property in the south if Spain has been a dream for people around the world for decades, and Mijas is one of the most sought-after destinations.
Investing in property could be complicated for a foreigner but experts at the SUR in English roundtable event this Friday at La Zambra Resort, Mijas Golf, discussed the current situation in the market and cleared up some of the questions affecting buyers and investors.
Speaking before the debate, Mayor of Mijas Ana Mata, spoke of how the municipality was still a favourite location for thousands of foreign residents and home owners, with its three clear zones: Pueblo, Costa and Las Lagunas. She stressed how the local town hall welcomed investors, both property buyers and those wanting to start a business.

Panelists at the event were: Lourdes Burgos, town planning councillor at Mijas town hall; Marc Elliott de Lama, owner and founder of Fluent Finance Aborad S. L; Juan José Millán, CSO of Wyndham Costa del Sol; David Sánchez, CEO Investments/Sales at Arkitech; and Juan Goñi Uriarte, CEO of Klic Arquitectos, who discussed a variety of issues, moderated by SUR in English journalist Jennie Rhodes.
The general view was unmistakeable: property is a good investment for foreign buyers. Reasons for buying are varied, either as a holiday home, a main residence or as a base for a digital nomads. The experts discussed issues such as the golden visa, the time taken to obtain building licences, the changing profile of investors, obtaining mortgages in Spain and sustainable properties, among others.
