Mijas wildfire brought under control
The blaze broke out on Thursday afternoon in the Cortijo de Los Ortejones area near Santana Golf, an area known as Índalo
A forest fire that broke out early this Thursday afternoon in the municipality of Mijas was declared as 'controlled' by the Infoca firefighting team at around 9.20pm. Firefighters remained on the scene to extinguish the fire. The flames remained far from built-up areas, but the column of smoke was visible from different points of the Costa del Sol.
The Guardia Civil closed the A-7053 La Cala to Entrerríos road at the point close to the fire, while Infoca, Mijas and Marbella professionals were working on the ground.

The fire broke out in the Cortijo de Los Ortejones area near the Santana golf club at around 3.45pm in an area close to the road.
Infoca deployed three firefighting aircraft, a heavy-lift helicopter, a medium helicopter and a light helicopter. On the ground, a fire engine, two reinforcement crews and two groups of forest firefighters are working, as well as two operations technicians and an environmental officer. Later, two more groups of firefighters and another operations technician joined the contingent. In addition, two units from the Mijas fire brigade and two more from the Marbella fire brigade were working in the area.
This summer, Mijas town hall launched an information campaign to prevent forest fires, as the municipality, due to its climate and natural features, presents a high risk of fire during the summer months.
