El Rocío
We visited the town of El Rocío, in the Doñana national park. This is the site of perhaps the biggest pilgrimage in Spain. Usually some two million attend, with the vast majority coming by horse.
The whole town is very “ horse-centric” - it is almost like something out of the wild west.
The pilgrimage had finished a couple of days before we got there, but we saw some people still in their traditional dress, and lots of horses and carriages making their way home.
